Las Vegas says goodbye to The Riviera Hotel and Casino

1 June 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) announced today the official date for the implosion of the Monaco Tower on the LVCVA-owned Riviera Hotel and Casino site. The historic moment will take place at approximately 2 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, June 14. A separate implosion of the Monte Carlo Tower will take place later this summer.

The Monaco Tower implosion is one of a series of ongoing demolition efforts at the Riviera Hotel and Casino property to move forward with the Las Vegas Convention Center District. The project includes the expansion and renovation of the existing Las Vegas Convention Center. Construction of the state-of-the-art facility is expected to generate 7,000 high-paying construction jobs and 6,000 full-time permanent jobs.
