Las Vegas Resort Wins Injunction Against Internet Casino

The order, issued April 25 by U.S. District Judge Johnnie Rawlinson, prohibits Bahamas-based Giordano Casinos and its owner Angelo Giordano from using the "Aladdin" name "in any domain names or on the Internet or on a Web page or in conjunction with or as the name of any Internet casino, pending trial in this matter."

The order, which requires Aladdin to post a $3,000 bond, also prohibits the defendants' use of the "Aladdin" name to advertise or promote gambling, casino or entertainment services.

Aladdin sought an order in U.S. District Court in November to strip the defendants of their site name "www.aladdingaming.com" after they allegedly refused to surrender the name without compensation.

Aladdin, which uses "aladdincasino.com" as its Web site, said the defendants' "aladdingaming.com" site violated its trademark because it links the Aladdin name to "Worldbet.net," an online casino.

Most Internet gambling, while widespread, is considered to be illegal in Nevada and several other U.S. states.
