Las Vegas Plans for New Year's Eve Fireworks

“Dubbed `America's Party,’ the upcoming holiday display will include more than 65,000 pyrotechnic effects launched from 12 rooftop locations, Beth Gayler, marketing director for Las Vegas Events, said Wednesday.

“…More than 280,000 people are expected to witness this year's eight-minute production, which will cost about $500,000 to produce. Both figures are in line with last year's event, which helped the city generate a nongaming economic impact of approximately $167.3 million, said Terry Jicinsky, senior vice president of marketing for the authority.

“This year's show will be divided into four stages, the first scheduled to begin approximately 10 seconds before midnight Dec. 31 with a countdown of golden comets, Gayler said.

“…The show's finale will include a `titanium jackpot’ barrage of flashing silver lights and noise symbolizing Las Vegas and Nevada, the Silver State. Such specialization is made possible by Pyro Spectacular, the Rialto, Calif.-based company selected to handle this year's display.
