Las Vegas Casino Sues Internet Sex, Gambling Sites19 June 2001LAS VEGAS, Nevada –June 19, 2001--MGM Mirage's Mirage Resorts Inc., owner of the Golden Nugget hotel-casino, sued to stop three companies from using its Golden Nugget trademark to offer Internet pornography and gambling services. The downtown Las Vegas casino's owner sued Cybercom Productions of Chester, Flintshire, in the United Kingdom; Leighton Global Enterprises of Boca Raton, Fla., and its owner, Paul Leighton; and Med Enterprises of Columbia Station, Ohio, and its owner, Michael Daniels, in U.S. District Court. Cybercom, which allegedly owns a pornographic website called "Golden Nugget 2000," is accused of linking its domain name "goldennugget2000.com" to that website, which also allegedly provides a hyperlink to Cybercom's online casino "Planet Luck Online Casino." Leighton Global is charged with linking its "goldennuggetscasino.com" domain name to an online casino at "www.GoldenNuggetsCasino.com," while Med Enterprises allegedly linked its domain name "wwwgoldennugget.com" to a web page that automatically transfers web users to its pornographic website, "Bizarre Sex." The defendants could not be reached for comment on the allegations. |
