Las Vegas-Based Airline Plans Texas Flights

27 April 2005

Las Vegas Sun

Allegiant Air will begin nonstop flights twice a week between Las Vegas and the border city of McAllen, Texas, beginning June 24.

The Las Vegas-based airline, which is undertaking a major expansion by adding a hub of operations in suburban Orlando, Fla., next month, will use 150-passenger, twin-engine MD-80 series aircraft on the McAllen route.

A spokeswoman for the company said the airline is expanding its fleet to accommodate the new flights.

Flights will leave McCarran International Airport at 4:05 p.m., Mondays and Fridays, arriving in McAllen at 9:05 p.m., with the return flights leaving at 9:45 p.m., and arriving in Las Vegas at 10:50 p.m.

McAllen-Miller International Airport serves the Rio Grande Valley and northeast Mexico. Allegiant's flights will be the first nonstop trips between Las Vegas and McAllen.
