Large Monet Exhibition Coming to Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – As reported by the Associated Press: ``Some of Claude Monet's greatest masterpieces will be on display in a new exhibition at the Bellagio hotel-casino beginning early next year.

``The show will feature 21 works by the French impressionist painter, including "The Water Lily Pond," "Water Lilies" and "Grainstack." Monet completed the various works from 1864 to 1905.

``The paintings are on loan from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, which has the biggest Monet collection outside France.

``The exhibition, Jan. 30 to Sept. 13, is the largest loan of Monet's works by the museum to a single institution in more than a decade, said Andrea Bundonis, president of the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art.

``…Born in Paris, Monet is known for his depiction of landscapes and seacoast views. He was particularly adept at using natural light through his lifetime, and helped popularize painting outdoors…"
