Laid Off Worker Claims $89 Million Powerball Jackpot

INDIANA – As reported by the Indianapolis Star: "A Salem factory worker who was laid off a week ago claimed the Powerball jackpot on Monday, taking home $49 million.

"'I woke up thinking I'm going to look for a job, and I don't know where the money's going to come from,' said Tim Rivers, 23.

"…Rivers said he had a dream last Tuesday night that he would win the lottery and buy himself a bike, a new car and a house for his young family.

"On Friday, he bought a Powerball ticket. On Sunday morning, he was a millionaire.

"…Saturday's jackpot was worth $89 million, but Rivers chose the immediate cash payout of $49 million before taxes…"
