Lady Luck Sold to Las Vegas Company

NEVADA -- Representatives of The Henry Brent Co. said Thursday that their closely held Las Vegas company has purchased downtown's Lady Luck.

The company provided few details about the transaction, and Clark County land records say only that the company in April purchased two parcels totaling approximately 2.7 acres near Ogden Avenue and Third Street for $10.26 million.

A statement announcing the Lady Luck sale said Keith Grossman, who owns Henry Brent Co. with partners Andrew Donner and Robert O'Neil, would provide additional information on the transaction. But a coworker said Thursday Grossman was unavailable for comment and no other employees could discuss the deal.

Isle of Capri Casinos, a riverboat casino company based in Biloxi, Miss., in 2002 sold the 758-room Lady Luck to a company identified only as AMX.

However, Thursday's announcement said the resort was purchased in 2002 by Steadfast Cos. of Newport Beach, Calif.

Donner, who briefly ran afoul of state gaming regulators two years ago over improperly filed tax returns, also owns Resort Gaming Group, which will manage the Lady Luck. Resort Gaming also manages eight Timbers Bar & Grill sites in Southern Nevada.
