Labour to crack down on offshore bookmakers14 April 2010LONDON, England -- In the midst of a general election The Labour Party proposes changes that would force offshore bookies to pay towards the horseracing levy, the BBC reported last week. Currently offshore bookmakers are not subjected to the 10% tax that British-registered betting companies are, the BBC said. It's not been established how this contribution will be administrated, but the speculation is that any betting operation that takes bets on British races will have to contribute to the levy, the BBC report said.
