Korean Government to Monitor Sites22 October 2002SOUTH KOREA – As reported by the Korea Story: "The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) said yesterday it will conduct periodic monitoring of 300-odd Internet sites to ensure security is tight enough to ensure no private information is vulnerable to release. "…The listed Internet sites included adult live broadcasting, online chatting, Web-based loan service companies and gambling sites, it said. "Under the law, the government will require online service providers to submit reports on their management of personal information. The listed websites regularly collect private information such as telephone numbers, addresses, identification and banking accounts when they accept new customers…" |
