Kentucky Supporter Backs Out

KENTUCKY – As reported by the Cincinnati Post: "A Kentucky House leader who sent a letter to lawmakers last week urging support for casino gambling legislation now says he has no plans to introduce the bill.

"House Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark, D-Louisville, who has been a major proponent of casino gambling in the bluegrass state, apparently had a change of heart after sending out the letter.

"…Clark has previously expressed frustration that the racing industry could not present a united front on the distribution of casino money or the form gambling would take. Some backers want slot machines installed at racetracks while others would like to see stand-alone casinos built.

"Northern Kentucky lawmakers expressed surprise that Clark was backing away from proposing the legislation.

"…In spite of the detailed letter, Clark emphasized Sunday he has no plans to introduce the legislation…"
