Kentucky: Study estimates casinos would generate $1.1 billion in first year

18 January 2012

KENTUCKY -- The introduction of expanded gambling to Kentucky through eight racetrack casinos could see revenue of $1.14 billion in the first year, the Courier-Journal reported.

The figure was estimated by a study, carried out Spectrum Gaming Group, that explored the economic potential to state revenue that gambling could bring, the report said.

The study also asserted the potential creation of 11,000 jobs and noted the high amount Kentucky is losing out to other states when people cross state borders to gamble, the Courier-Journal noted.
