Kentucky candidate supports legalized casino gambling

KENTUCKY – As reported by the Lexington Herald-Leader: "Bringing casino gambling to Kentucky will help fund pre-school classes for all 3- and 4-year-olds and a college scholarship program for students who agree to work in the state after graduation, if Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Beshear gets elected, the Lexington lawyer promised yesterday.

"The costly education proposals were among a litany of promises Beshear made as he used a Frankfort news conference to roll out his plan to create economic growth in the state.

"If approved by voters, Beshear said he expects that a constitutional amendment allowing expanded gambling would bring $500 million in new revenue to the state, an amount that would 'help us significantly' in funding his proposals…"
