Kentucky Alliance Might Back Casinos7 February 2005KENTUCKY – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP), an alliance of state horse industry leaders, might back efforts to bring casino-style gambling into the state if a measure presented to lawmakers basically keeps such gambling to racetracks, the group's chairman, horseman, and former Kentucky Governor Brereton Jones said during a media presentation on Saturday at Turfway Park. "Any gambling-related measure would have to benefit the state's horse industry, Jones said, as well as provide tax revenues to fund state programs and services. "…Four gambling bills already have been filed during the current General Assembly session, which convened on February 1. KEEP, however, has not thrown its support toward any of the plans…" |
