KC casino revenue dips in March

16 April 2009

KANSAS CITY, Missouri -- As reported by The Kansas City Star: "If Kansas City's casinos are feeling the recession's undertow, it hardly showed in March.

"Gamblers left behind nearly $63.7 million last month at the area's four casinos, down 2 percent from March 2008 but still the market's fifth-biggest month ever.

"March is always a big month for the 'boats,' thanks to the weather and basketball fans in town. This March probably suffered compared with last year because March 2008 had five Saturdays.

"The market also was flat across Missouri, as the total take for the state's 12 casinos was nearly $151.3 million, just below $151.6 million in March 2008..."
