KC and The Sunshine Band heads to Rivers Casino

28 May 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- KC and The Sunshine Band, known for their multi-platinum hits like “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s The Way (I Like It)” and “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty,” brings their unique pop-funk sound to The Event Center at Rivers Casino on Friday, 12 July, at 8 p.m. Tickets are now on sale and start at $45.

Delivering feel-good music since 1973, the “sunshine sound” that originated from the lead singer’s Florida roots earned KC and The Sunshine Band four No. 1 records and multiple Grammy, Lifetime Achievement and American Music awards. KC and The Sunshine Band has toured nonstop for over 40 years, performing their timeless music all over the world.

Since the release of their first hit single, “Blow Your Whistle,” which landed a spot in the top 15 on the R&B charts, the group has become an international sensation with over 10 studio albums; their music has been featured in over 200 movies and commercials and has sold more than 100 million records worldwide. With two triple-platinum albums featuring a string of hits like “Boogie Shoes,” “Rock Your Baby” and “I’m Your Boogie Man,” KC and The Sunshine Band continues to keep the disco era alive with timeless classics that span generations.

“I grew up listening to KC and The Sunshine band’s music,” said Rivers Casino General Manager Bill Keena. “The group’s iconic hits and all-encompassing sound appeals to a wide-ranging audience, which will make for a remarkable night in The Event Center.”

On 26 April, the group released its latest feel-good party anthem, “Give Me Some More (Aye Yai Yai).” With five Billboard-charting tracks over the past four years, “Give Me Some More (Aye Yai Yai)” is poised to keep the band’s funky momentum for career-long fans and those who may be just discovering the sound that shaped the 1970s and still resonates in music today. Having decades of experience in the music industry, KC and The Sunshine Band fuses R&B, pop and funk with a hint of Latin groove to create a one-of-a-kind music genre.
