Kansas Gambling Plan Emerges21 June 2005TOPEKA, Kansas – As reported by the Kansas City Star: "A plan to expand state gambling — including a casino and race-track slot machines in Wyandotte County — won support from a key legislative committee today. "The proposal should generate enough money to answer a recent Supreme Court order for $143 million more in school funding. But it won't be easy for the proposal to win an endorsement from the full Senate or House once the special legislative session begins Wednesday. "The Senate Ways and Means committee informally approved a plan today that would allow a casino and slot machines at race tracks in Wyandotte County and southeast Kansas, either in Crawford or Cherokee counties…" |
