Kansas City Posts Moderate Results

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – As reported by the Kansas City Star: "Kansas City's riverboat casinos are having a gung-ho 2004, but August was merely ho-hum, posting a modest 1.7 percent growth over August last year.

"For the first eight months of the year, gross revenues at the area's four casinos are up 10.6 percent, according to the latest data available from the Missouri Gaming Commission.

"Led for the 11th consecutive month by Ameristar Kansas City Casino and Hotel, area casinos collectively raked in $56.9 million in August. That represents the fifth-largest revenue month in the local casino industry's 10-year history.

"…Statewide, casino revenues in August hit $124.5 million, up 2.4 percent, the second-best month on record.

"…The August statewide leader was Harrah's in Maryland Heights, with a monthly tally of $25 million, followed by Ameristar in St. Charles at $23.8 million. Ameristar Kansas City ranked third statewide at $19.7 million…"
