Kansas casino campaign donations revealed

KANSAS -- As reported by the Wichita Eagle: "Intrust Financial Corp. and Wichita hotelier Jack DeBoer each gave $100,000 to defeat gambling in Sedgwick County, campaign finance reports released Monday show.

"Their donations to No Casinos in Sedgwick County were among hundreds made public as the Dec. 31 reporting deadline passed for groups that formed in support of and against gambling.

"No Casinos, Moms Against Casinos, Phil Ruffin's Yes for Progress group and the Kansas Greyhound Association filed reports with the Sedgwick County election office.

"...Together, the groups raised and spent about $1.5 million on the casino issue.

"...Ruffin, owner of the former Wichita Greyhound Park, spent $746,513 of his own money trying to get people to vote for gambling..."
