Kansas All-Star Scholars Fund provides $300K to local schools

6 February 2017

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Kansas All-Star Scholars Fund, funded entirely by Kansas Star Casino, announced it will distribute $300,000 to schools in the Sumner County and Mulvane school districts to support science, math and art programs.

Founded in 2011, the Kansas All-Star Scholars Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created for the purpose of supporting education and students in Sumner County and Mulvane, Kansas. Since its inception, the Kansas Star Casino has donated over $7.5 million to the All-Star Fund. The current distribution is part of Kansas Star's $1.5 million annual contribution to support the objectives of the Kansas All-Star Scholars Fund.

Funds will be available to make one-time appropriation to help STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs and the arts education in Sumner County and Mulvane public schools.

The one-time grant will allow for $200,000 to be earmarked for classroom expenses such as science equipment, computers, presentation tools and other items as determined by principals at each school. The remaining $100,000, earmarked for the arts departments, was disbursed in late December.

More than 5,400 students in Mulvane, Wellington, Belle Plaine, Conway Springs, Oxford, Caldwell, South Haven, and Argonia will benefit from this grant. Funds are disbursed to schools on a per capita basis.
