Jupiters Casino Plans Upgrade

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Courier-Mail: "Two decades after opening as Queensland's first legal casino and helping spark the Gold Coast's international tourism boom, Conrad Jupiters Casino is to undergo its first major upgrade.

"Victorian-based gambling giant Tabcorp, which owns Jupiters along with Brisbane's Conrad Treasury and Jupiters Townsville casinos, announced yesterday it would spend $53.5 million renovating the Coast property.

"…The 'old girl' of Queensland casinos will be given a youthful makeover, including a new live entertainment area and bar aimed at attracting more patrons aged between 18 and 35.

"Expanded and remodelled gaming areas, riverside balconies and a new restaurant would also be part of what Tabcorp's casino boss David Banks said was the biggest upgrade of Jupiters in its 20-year history.

"…Construction will start in August and the project is due for completion at the end of next year."
