Jowell: New Lottery Game to Fund Olympics

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the Games Bid: "Following Monday's International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Evaluation Commission report, Tessa Jowell, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, announced plans for a new National Lottery game to help fund the Games should London win the bid.

"The project would launch July 7, a day after the 2012 host city is elected.

"According to the BBC Jowell insists London can win after Olympic inspectors judged its bid to be a 'very high quality' in its report released Monday.

"…Jowell said funding for the Olympics would come from three sources – the National Lottery, council taxpayers in London and the London Development Agency…"
