Journalist wins Party Poker in the Sky

COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- 24-year-old Copenhagen journalist Johannes Jorgensen is the winner of Party Poker in the Sky! After conquering the field of 22 players 50 metres up in the Copenhagen skyline, he scooped a $13,000 package for the PartyPoker.com World Open V in London in October.

PartyPoker.com and Ace Magazine teamed up to create Poker in the Sky, which took place on Friday 11 September. Poker in the Sky literally elevated above everything that you've seen before on the Danish poker scene! Floating high above the Town Hall, surrounded by Copenhagen and the spires of the city, 22 poker players including two local celebrities in the form of a Danish 'Survivor' winner and radio presenter, took part in the game with town hall-doves as the nearest spectators!

Winner Jorgensen said: "The fact that the game was high up in the sky certainly added a different element to my play. I'm not at all scared of heights and am a fan of bungee jumping so I targeted players who I thought were keen to get down as quick as possible with aggressive play! In addition, I targeted those who I deduced had less experience. I think there were better players than me on the platform but I kept out of their way as much as possible. The strategy worked."

"Im delighted to have won a World Open V package – if that event was held 50 metres up I still think I would have some serious problems with players like Mike Sexton and Tom Dwan!"

The 22 poker players were hoisted 50 metres in the air by a crane at City Hall Square in Copenhagen and crowds gathered on the ground looking up. One player who didn't take part was WSOP Europe bracelet winner and grounded Danish poker hardman Theo Jorgensen (no relation to Johannes), who pulled out the week before due to a fear of heights! Where one Jorgensen was not afraid to push his chips in 50 metres up, the other failed to go all-in with PartyPoker.com in the Sky. "Maybe Theo is getting a bit old," joked Johannes.

One onlooker amongst the crowd was poker commentator Jesse May: "The idea of a game 50 metres up was spectacular and it was brilliant how the crowds gathered below. Congratulations to Johannes, he'll have quite some story for the World Open. It must have been a great feeling getting pocket rockets in the sky!"

Johannes Jorgensen won a $13,000 package for the PartyPoker.com World Open V, which takes in London between 11 -15 October. The line-up at this prestigious event includes 'Ambassador of Poker' Mike Sexton and Tom 'Durrrr' Dwan.
