John Miner wins Card Player Poker Tour Atlantis All-In Poker Series Main Event1 April 2013LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- John Miner of Carson City, NEVADA won the $1,080 Card Player Poker Tour Atlantis All-In Poker Series main event, held at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, NV. Miner and his friend Jerry Morrell got heads up in the 190 player field on March 25, 2013 and, being virtually equal in chips, decided to split the prize pool and play just one hand to determine the champion. Miner was dealt Ac Qd while Morrell received Qc 2s. The board ran out Ks Js 8h 3h 7c and Miner scooped the second main event title on the first season of the new Tour. “It feels very good to win, I’m glad that the Atlantis put it on for us,” said Miner after his win. “I’m very excited to make a good showing for the hometown. It was a tough field, everybody played very well and it was definitely challenging, but I felt very confident most of the time.” When asked if he had a plan for the money Miner joked, “Yeah, give it to my wife. I’ll probably also play some more poker and try to win some more tournaments.” Notable players who took part in the event included former world champion Jerry Yang, Steve Brecher, David Randall, Charles “Woody” Moore and Howard “Tahoe” Andrew. The event runs from April 15-18 and Ports of Call in the Western Caribbean include Labadee, Haiti; Falmouth, Jamaica; and Cozumel, Mexico. |
