Joey Chestnut to compete in wing eating contest at The Brook18 June 2026(PRESS RELEASE) -- Joey Chestnut, 17-time Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest champion and one of the most accomplished competitive eaters in the sport, will headline the First Annual Saugus Wing Eating Championship at The Brook on Saturday, 11 July. The event is free and open to the public. Presented by Major League Eating, the competition is named after one of New England's most beloved dishes. Saugus Wings were made famous by Kowloon, the iconic Route 1 landmark that collaborated with The Brook to open 9 Dragons, the casino’s celebrated Asian dining concept. The competition begins at 5:30 p.m. with Chestnut facing a field of challengers. Doors open at 4 p.m., and live music from Neon 90s will follow the contest at approximately 6:30 p.m. “Joey Chestnut is the most celebrated name in competitive eating, and we’re excited to bring him to Seabrook,” said Andre Carrier, CEO of The Brook. “Naming this championship after the Saugus Wing is an homage to the Wong family and to what Kowloon means to New England. We expect it to become a summer tradition.” Added Chestnut: "As this is my first time on the New Hampshire Seacoast, I can't wait to hit The Brook and take down Kowloon's legendary Saugus Wings. Come out, get lost in the sauce, and catch the show. Someone will be setting a record. I’m betting on me!” Joining Chestnut in the lineup is Boston-based content creator Harmon Caponigro, known for his “Be a Man” brand and Swamp Squad videos, with more than 2 million Instagram followers, and Massachusetts native Geoffrey Esper, known for eating 83 slices of John's Incredible Pizza in 10 minutes and 281 Hooters wings in the same amount of time. The event, for guests 18+, will be held at The Secret Garden, the new outdoor dining and entertainment venue at The Brook, featuring landscaped grounds, fire pits, and a 5,400-square-foot glass conservatory. The area was developed on the site of the former greyhound racetrack and hosts Sunday brunch, live events, and seasonal programming. Following the wing eating contest, the venue lineup includes Yächtley Crëw, a Midsummer Night’s Dream Party featuring Carneyval, and Big Head Todd and The Monsters. “We built The Secret Garden to be a place where New England comes together,” Carrier added. “Bringing Major League Eating here, celebrating the Saugus Wing, making it free for everyone — this is the kind of event that we have become known for.” Located just over the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border, The Brook is a 75-acre property that offers over 600 gaming machines, live table games, a 10-table poker room, New England's largest sportsbook, multiple dining options, and the state’s largest Stadium Gaming experience. |
