Jockey Club propose complete drug ban30 March 2012NEW YORK -- A ban has been proposed by the Jockey Club that will mean horses may no longer run with any drugs or pain medication in their systems on the day of a race, The New York Times reported. A recent New York Times article drew attention to the issue of horse breakdown and fatalities on the track. In Europe horse are not permitted to race with any drug in their system, today's New York Times article said. Under the Jockey Club's proposed ban there will be stiff penalties for offenders, the New York Times article said. |
