Job applicants swarm California casino

TUCSON, Arizona -- As reported by The Arizona Daily Star: "A standing-room-only throng of applicants spilled onto the construction site of the Quechan Casino Resort near Yuma, which opened its employment center Tuesday with 1,000 jobs up for grabs.

"Resort officials estimated that 'hundreds and hundreds' of applicants would be interviewed Tuesday alone, the Yuma Sun reported.

"Officials said the current economic crisis is driving many applicants to the rare opportunity for such a large number of job openings, but they also pointed to overall excitement for the project as another powerful driving force.

"The jobs center will remain open until the resort is open in early 2009..."
