Jena Band of Choctaws presents casino plans14 June 2007GRANT PARISH, Louisiana -- As reported by the Alexandria-Pineville Town Talk: "Grant Parish police jurors are scheduled to listen Thursday as Jena Band of Choctaws tribal representatives present arguments in favor of a gaming compact. "The Jena Band of Choctaws wants to build a casino on newly proclaimed reservation land in southern Grant Parish near the Rapides Parish border, tribal Chief Christine Norris has said in a previously published story. Grant Parish police jurors earlier voted 6 to 1 against allowing that level of gaming in Grant Parish, according to Jury Manager Sam Brimer. Brimer said he was the sole juror who opposed the measure.
