Jason Boland & the Stragglers to kick off Riverwind Casino's 2018 Beats & Bites27 April 2018(PRESS RELEASE) -- The countdown is on to the first Beats & Bites of 2018 at Riverwind Casino. The food truck and music festival takes place 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, 12 May and is an all-ages, free show. Oklahoma natives Jason Boland & the Stragglers headline the season’s inaugural event with opening act Time Machine. Time Machine kicks off Beats & Bites as gates open at 6 p.m. Riverwind’s west parking lot transforms into the Beats & Bites festival grounds with a performance stage, food trucks and merchandise vendors from around Oklahoma. “Beats & Bites is a great, family-friendly event that our staff and community look forward to every year,” said Justin Yahola, Riverwind’s general manager. “The support this community has shown the event over the last three summers is really encouraging. We look forward to continuing that momentum as we go into our first Beats & Bites of the year on 12 May.” Jason Boland & the Stragglers came together in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and have been commanding stages with their red dirt sound for the past 20 years. The band’s set is expected to include hits from their recent album, “Squelch,” and favorites from previous albums. The headlining musical acts for the remaining Beats & Bites events include The Romantics on 9 June, Restless Heart on 7 July, and Mark Chesnutt will perform on 11 August. In addition to local food trucks and music, festivalgoers can visit vendors offering local merchandise, games, visit the Thunder Shop and meet Rumble the Bison, the mascot for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the event and can bring umbrellas for shade. Pets are allowed and must be leashed while on property. Outside food and beverages are prohibited.
