Isle of Capri sued over false arrest

28 June 2007

"KANSAS CITY, Missouri -- As reported by the Kansas City Star: "A Mexican man has sued the Isle of Capri Casino for wrongly accusing him of using a fake Mexican driver's license.

"They wrote him a ticket, confiscated his driver's license and in effect kept him in the United States from Feb. 18 to April 19, when a Jackson County judge found him innocent, according to the lawsuit.

"It contends that as a result, Jose Angel Bustamante Parra lost his job as an engineer at a gold mine. Now he is suing for false arrest, malicious prosecution, assault, slander and negligence.

"...The lawsuit asks for more than $25,000 on each of six counts and also for punitive damages to deter other such conduct."
