Isle of Capri Expands Kansas City Property18 January 2006BILOXI, Mississippi – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. (Nasdaq: ISLE) today announced plans for an $85 million expansion project at the company's Kansas City, Mo. property. The expansion project will improve guest traffic patterns and renovate existing gaming space to offer guests more variety in playing options. Exterior plans include a new, updated entryway, exterior facade refinishing, reconfiguration of existing parking, and the addition of 1,000 parking spaces to allow guests an easy transition from parking to play. Plans for the casino interior include expanding and renovating the playing area, and adding an entertainment venue to seat at least 1,000 guests. Additional food and beverage amenities include an exciting new Italian restaurant, revamping the Company's branded Calypso's buffet to exceed guests' expectations and at least one other yet to be determined culinary establishment. "We have been listening closely to input from our guests in Kansas City. This project is the result of meeting increased market demands, and keeping with our company philosophy of being the best for our customers," Tim Hinkley, president and chief operating officer, said. "We have been considering an expansion project in Kansas City to improve the overall guest experience since we purchased property and we are excited to see our plans become a reality." The company expects to begin construction in Spring 2006 and will take approximately 12 to 15 months to complete. The proposed project is subject to conditions including receipt of necessary approvals and execution of definitive agreements. Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc., a leading developer and owner of gaming and entertainment facilities, operates 15 casinos in 13 locations. The company owns and operates riverboat and dockside casinos in Biloxi, Vicksburg, Lula and Natchez, Mississippi; Bossier City and Lake Charles (2 riverboats), Louisiana; Bettendorf, Davenport and Marquette, Iowa; and Kansas City and Boonville, Missouri. The company also owns a 57 percent interest in and operates land-based casinos in Black Hawk (two casinos), Colorado. Isle of Capri's international gaming interests include a casino that it operates in Freeport, Grand Bahama, and a two-thirds ownership interest in casinos in Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton, England. The company also owns and operates Pompano Park Harness Racing Track in Pompano Beach, Florida. |
