Ireland: Gambling laws look likely to be overhauled

17 November 2010

DUBLIN, Ireland -- Gambling reform is on the cards in Ireland, The Irish Independent reported.

The country, currently in the midst of financial calamity, looks likely to reform its gambling laws, the paper said.

The Justice Minister made comments on the topic on a political radio program this week, according to the Irish Independent.

Individual TD's (MP's) are lobbying for the law to include a "Las Vegas-style" casino or super casino, the paper reported.

It could take up to a year to amend the laws, the Independent noted.
