IP Casino Resort and Spa holding urban-rappelling fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity

20 March 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- IP Casino Resort and Spa and Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast will partner up to produce the thrilling, urban-rappelling fundraiser event, "Over the Edge," on Saturday, May 21.

The event's kickoff party, "Hang Out with Habitat," was held at the IP's AAA Four Diamond-rated restaurant thirty-two on Monday, Feb. 29. Participants, or "edgers," eagerly attended the launch party and committed to raising funds for Habitat for Humanity, in exchange for the chance to rappel down all 32 floors of the IP's hotel tower.

"The opportunity to go 'over the edge' at the IP is an extraordinary way to recognize, celebrate and commemorate Habitat for Humanity's progress while raising essential funds for its future," said Duncan McKenzie, Vice President and General Manager.

IP has been a long-time supporter of Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, including participating in the annual National Women Build Week and being a Marquee Partner for the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic charity golf tournament.

"Edgers" don't need prior experience to rappel 300 feet down the hotel tower, but they do need to register and raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. Participants must commit to raise or donate a minimum of $1,000. The event will be managed by professional rappelling and event company "Over the Edge," which will oversee all safety and logistics for the event. There are a limited number of rappelling spots available for the event. Individuals can register online. The community is invited to watch participants rappel, and a viewing area will be available on the IP front lawn.
