Iowa Town Welcomes Casino24 May 2005EMMETSBURG, Iowa – As reported by the Fort Dodge Messenger: "The Wild Rose Casino is well on its way to becoming a reality, and the town is planning ways to welcome it and the business it will bring. "Wild Rose co-owner Mike Richards and general manager Kevin Preston were present at the Emmetsburg City Council meeting Monday night to give the officials an update on progress while dispelling rumors that have been circulating town. "…The casino will cost $35 to $40 million to build and will employ 300 to 400 people, Richards said. The plan is to start moving dirt by June 1 and to have the casino open and operational by June 30, 2006. "…The corporation is currently planning a June 10 celebration to commemorate the groundbreaking at the casino site. It will begin at 3 p.m. with a ceremonial groundbreaking, followed by a picnic and live entertainment…" |
