Iowa Senate passes gambling bill, includes study of Internet poker

22 April 2011

IOWA -- The Iowa Senate passed gambling bill earlier this week that includes a provision to study the regulation of Internet poker, according to The Des Moines Register.

The study has been allocated a deadline of Dec 1, 2011 and could lead eventually to the legalization of online poker within Iowa, the report explained.

Among the provisions the bill, Senate File 526, includes are changes to the requirement to hold a referendum every 8 years, where people in Iowa counties have voted twice previously to approve casino gambling, The Des Moines Register reported.
