Iowa Governor: Casinos Not Guaranteed for Counties

IOWA – As reported by KVTO3 TV: "For months, representatives from six different Iowa counties, inlcuding Wapello County, lobbied for expansion of gambling within the state.

"The state legislature passed a bill approving expansion but didn't specify how many more licenses should be allowed.

"…Now as the counties, including Wapello, begin to apply for a casino license, there are no guarantees. Governor [Tom] Vilsack says there are most certainly opportunities for expansion within the state, but he doesn't think all six counties will leave the table ahead.

"…Four of the six counties have joined together in a unified effort in the application process…"
