Iowa Commission Finishes Tour

OTTUMWA. Iowa – As reported by Ottumwa Courier: "Two days of travel brought the members of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to Ottumwa. And the commission's chairwoman said the travel has been long, but may have helped some applicants.

"Chairwoman Diane Hamilton did not address any specific applicants in speaking with The Courier. A total of 10 applications in seven counties are before the commission. Hamilton said the visits have not produced any frontrunners.

"…Hamilton said each location offered something different. The casinos are the centerpieces, but the surrounding attractions vary widely. Hamilton said those differences in attractions make it easier to keep applicants distinct, even after two days of travel.

"…Commissioners have just more than a month to make their decision…"
