Iowa casinos to close through end of March

16 March 2020

To help contain the spread of the coronavirus, the Iowa Gaming Association announces the temporary closure of the state's casinos, effective 17 March.

From the commission's website:

"These are unprecedented times and it is imperative to flatten the curve to minimize exposure to the coronavirus -- and not overwhelm the health care system. Iowa’s 19 commercial casinos are premier entertainment destinations that attract thousands of patrons each week, and we support the Governor’s order to help contain any additional community spread during the critical next two weeks.

As of March 17, All 19 casinos will be closing to the public soon. There will be regulatory requirements to fulfill in the next few days after closure, such as conducting a full drop and full count for accurate revenue reports at time of closure, and providing necessary facility surveillance coverage. Thank you for your cooperation."
