Iowa Casino Plan Moves Forward

IOWA – As reported by the Hawk Eye News: "Unless it's knocked down by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, Randy Winegard's plan to build a casino in Burlington will fly.

"The Burlington City Council voted 4–1 Monday on the third, final reading of an ordinance to create and adopt a planned unit development, or PUD, for Winegard's property off Roosevelt Avenue, an action that gives the entrepreneur a thumbs up from the city to build a new casino.

"…Now that he has city permission, the only obstacle that stands in Winegard's way is receiving approval from the state. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for April 20 before the IRGC in Council Bluffs…"
