Iowa Casino Opponents Criticize Ad Campaign

RIVERSIDE, Iowa – As reported by the Associated Press: "A group opposed to casino gambling says an ad campaign for a new riverboat casino in Washington County violates state ethics rules.

"The ads use pictures of Riverside firefighters and fire trucks. Casino representatives say the ads show the benefits money from a new casino would have on public safety in the county.

"But the chairman of Communities Against River Expansion, Brad Franzwa, says the use of the firefighters and fire trucks is a misappropriation of public money and violates state ethics board rules.

"…The executive director of the ethics board, Charlie Smithson, said the board could consider Franzwa's complaint at its next meeting…"
