Iowa Casino Move Proposed20 January 2006IOWA – As reported by the Hawk Eye News: "Burlington's Randy Winegard will ask the state for permission to move Catfish Bend Casino to Roosevelt Avenue. "The Burlington businessman is in talks with the Kehl family to purchase majority ownership of the casino. While there is no signed agreement, Winegard said he believes negotiations could be completed by the end of the month for submission to the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission. "The commission is expected to consider the transfer of ownership at its March 5 meeting in Johnston. "At the same meeting, Winegard plans to unveil his pitch for a massive addition to his new FunCity complex, which opened in December and includes restaurants, water parks, go–kart racing, bowling, video games and more. "…The proposed casino would include the development of nearly 8 acres north of FunCity. Plans call for razing the former Andrew Corp. building, now used as warehouse space for Winegard Co., which makes antennas and satellite dishes…" |
