Iowa Casino Fined for Underage Gambling2 September 2004IOWA – As reported by the Iowa Daily Nonpareil: "…The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission is expected to assess a $10,000 fine against Bluffs Run Casino for a July incident during Thursday's meeting at Johnston. "According to a report from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, Daniel Enriquez-Ramirez was at Bluffs Run Casino around 4 a.m. July 5 when he hit a $1,350 taxable jackpot on a slot machine. The problem is, Ramirez wasn't 21. "A casino employee arrived to process the winnings and asked Ramirez for identification. Ramirez left and quickly returned with two people to act as his interpreter, according to the report. "The casino employee, a casino shift manager and a security officer then informed Ramirez that he would not receive his winnings and the casino wasn't liable for his losses. He was then cited by Council Bluffs police for gambling under the age of 21.
