Investors win in New England battle

14 November 2007

MASSACHUSETTS -- As reported by the Cape Cod Times: "In the high stakes casino war being waged among New England states, investors Sol Kerzner and Len Wolman can't lose.

They've partnered with the Mashpee Wampanoag, who have the federal right to run a casino in Massachusetts. Links

"Even if that $1 billion casino proposed for Middleboro never opens, they are still set to take in 5 percent of the gaming revenues from Mohegan Sun in Connecticut through 2014 — an estimated $675 million.

"And now, legislators in Rhode Island are proposing the expansion of the Twin River racino, which the South African developers Kerzner and Wolman bought in 2005. The legislators said they made the proposal to stay ahead of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick's plan for three Bay State commercial casinos..."
