Investigation won't delay Mount Airy Resort opening10 October 2007PENNSYLVANIA -- As reported by the Pocono Record: "If the grand jury investigating Mount Airy Casino Resort owner Louis DeNaples finds he lied on his slots application, the state can suspend or revoke his license, leaving the $400 million-plus project in limbo. "But with the stakes so high, and DeNaples' resources so deep, the due process built into the gaming code could substantially delay any decision affecting his operation. "Mount Airy plans to open its casino Monday. The hotel will follow a month later. "Mount Airy Casino Resort announced plans to open its new 188-room hotel in Paradise Valley on Nov. 15, exactly one month after it plans to open the casino. "...Pennsylvania's slots law says the Gaming Control Board can revoke DeNaples' license if it finds he has furnished false or misleading information to the board. But the law sets a threshold that's difficult to gauge: It requires the termination of the license to be in the public interest..." |
