Indonesia: Five men publicly caned for gambling9 March 2012BANDA ACEH, Indonesia -- Under syariah law, gambling is strictly forbidden in Aceh province, according to an Agence France Presse report. Five men who were caught gambling in a local lottery were publicly caned as a sentence, the report said. Each man received six lashes of the cane while members of the public watched and jeered, Agence France Presse reported. |
