Indiana tribal casino talks continue

INDIANA – As reported by the Gary Post-Tribune: "Talks of an Indian casino continue in Gary despite a change in the city's administration, but Mayor Rudy Clay said it is the Miami tribe that is keeping the idea alive.

"'The only thing the city's doing is listening,' Clay said. 'We have a listening administration.'

"The mayor also said Thursday that land transferred from the city to the city's Redevelopment Commission on Wednesday is meant only for Indiana University Northwest.

"…Speculation about the purpose of the land transfer began immediately, and talk of a Miami Indian gambling operation, an idea of former Mayor Scott King's, was among the rumors…"
