Indiana Riverboats Results Up

INDIANA -- As reported by the Cincinnati Post: "Gambling action at Southeast Indiana's riverboat casinos continued to grow in the third quarter. More than 2 million patrons went through the turnstiles at the three boats, wagering more than $2.5 billion in July, August and September.

"Admissions increased 6 percent overall compared to the third quarter of 2003. Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun led the way with a 15 percent increase, while Belterra Casino near Vevay was up 9 percent.

"Overall wagering grew 3 percent. Belterra's growth came out on top with a 7 percent increase, followed by Grand Victoria with 4 percent more.

"Admissions and wagering at Argosy Casino in Lawrenceburg, the area's largest and busiest casino, were each up 1 percent.

"...Gamblers' losses -- and the casinos' gross winnings -- for the three months rose to $194 million, up 9 percent compared to $179 million in the same period in 2003. That worked out to about $96 for every patron that came through the turnstiles..."
