Indiana Legislatures Plans to Block Casino Sale Fee

INDIANA – As reported by the Indianapolis Star: "The legislature plans to squash attempts by the Indiana Gaming Commission to take a small slice of the profits from the sale of a riverboat casino.

"Last week the commission voted unanimously to impose a new transfer fee on an owner who is selling his casino.

"The fee, which would be 1 percent of the riverboat's annual revenue, would apply to the upcoming sale of the Argosy Casino in Lawrenceburg to Penn National Gaming. The fee would bring in about $4.3 million for the state.
