Indiana Legislators Oppose Pull Tabs

INDIANA – As reported by the Evansville Courier-Press: "Forget about pull-tabs in Indiana - the state has gone far enough with gambling devices, according to three area legislators.

"The thumbs-down on pull-tabs and other additional forms of gambling came from state Reps. Republican Vaneta Becker and Democrats Dennis Avery and Brian Hasler during Saturday's 'Meet Your Legislators' session at the C.K. Newsome Center.

"…There is legislation pending that would allow pull-tab gambling at betting parlors and horse racing tracks.

"But Avery said Indiana has the third largest revenue from gambling in the country behind only Nevada and New Jersey.

"…Hasler also said he doesn't support pull-tab legislation this year and probably won't in the future.

"…Other forms of gambling, such as pull-tabs at racing tracks and betting parlors, also could have an impact on Casino Aztar, Evansville's riverboat casino operation…"
