Indiana House approves slot bill14 February 2007INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – As reported by the Louisville Courier-Journal: "A House committee approved a bill today that would authorize 2,500 slot machines at each of Indiana's racetracks and pump millions of dollars into the racing industry and the state's general fund. "House Bill 1835 would mean as much as $185 million annually in tax revenue, according to the racing industry, and an additional $80 million for race purses. "The bill's author, Rep. Trent Van Haaften, D-Mount Vernon, said the bill doesn't specify how the state tax revenue will be spent. That, he said, can be determined as the bill moves through the session.
